About Us
Our Story:
The Greater Good Youth Organization (GGYO) was founded in 2000 by William “Jay” Johnson with a singular, spirited goal: to support local youth athletics. It began with a close-knit 4th-grade AAU team that Jay coached—a team that went on to achieve a remarkable victory, winning the AAU Nationals that very summer.
What started as a grassroots effort to fundraise for school sports programs and community clubs quickly revealed a larger purpose. As the organization grew, so did its vision. GGYO evolved from a local sports fundraiser into a dynamic vehicle for community partnership, dedicated to addressing the broader needs of schools and non-profit organizations across the region.
Our Mission: Empowerment Through Opportunity
Today, GGYO stands as a non-profit organization with a profound commitment to serving individuals with disabilities. We believe that true community strength is built on inclusion and opportunity.
Our work focuses on two critical pillars:
- Training: Providing the skills and confidence individuals need to thrive.
- Employment: Creating meaningful pathways to economic independence and professional fulfillment.
By bridging the gap between potential and opportunity, we continue the legacy started in 2000: turning community spirit into tangible, life-changing support for those who need it most.
Our Impact:
From championing youth sports to empowering adults with disabilities, GGYO remains driven by the belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed. We partner with schools, non-profits, and community groups to build a more inclusive future where talent is recognized and barriers are removed.
Our Mission
At GGYO, we empower students and young adults with disabilities through training and employment programs, building confidence and skills for independent living.
